Most smaller interfaces have either a Direct monitor button OR and Mix knob that does the same thing but gives you more mix control. Or they have a software control panel that allows more flexible routing options but produces the same result.

Hello Steve, Trying out my new YC-88/61 setup. Love the keyboard and thanks to you I am learning how to navigate an already great live keyboard. When my house gig resumes in 2 weeks I am ready to take the new duo out to the gig. Presently I am using a Nord Stage 4 88 and a Nord Stage 3 73 Compact for my upper keyboard. I was a big Yamaha user for many years from all the motifs to the stage pianos. I got spoiled by the Nords over the last 8 years but it was your PodCast that told me to gig the YC a try. I did find out one real important thing. Going out of the XLR's verses the ¼" outputs is huge. I could not believe the difference. Fortunately my Ashley 308B line mixer has channels one and two switchable between ¼" or XLR. Then I run that signal through a Focusrite ISA 2 preamp and into a DBX intelligent EQ, and finally to a Warm Audio Bus Summing unit. I then run out of the bus Summing via XLR into a Presonus Temblor Sub and up to my Space Station. It's quite a setup and is actually a small set up that's very portable. I can see by your videos you are a very talented player with nice chops. I would love to catch up to you at a gig. Let me know where your band is playing. I'm in North Carolina but would make a trip out to meet in person. Thank you so much for being a great teacher and keep up the good work. Rocky

Cubase Chord Pads ended up dismally disppointing me becuz for YEARSSS the software FORCES us to use chord VOICINGS of its own. It was so frustrating to have a software dictate to me which voicings I am FORCED to use to play the Eb Major chord. I could Not even REDUCE the notes in the chord or do ANYTHING i really wanted with Cubase' forced-voicings 🙄😒🤕🤕 after 3 years i finally had to give up using chord pads and go to Scaler (yeah . . . THIRD-party plugin JUST to be able to play my preferred VOICING of the Eb Major chord 🤕🙄🙄). Scaler also showed me some flames due to . . . you're Not gonna believe this: It cannot transpose MULTIPLE chords stored on its Chord Pads. You must transpose the chords ONE by ONE . . . the most MUNDANE and easy operation (transposing notes/chords) . . . is STILL Not possible in Scaler in June 2024 😁😂😂.

Thank you for this indepth review. Super helpful! Maybe I missed it, but I'm struggling to save my volume controller setting globally. Is it only possible to save at the patch level? I'd like to set my voume/expression pedal (via the Controller 2 port) to always control All Volumes - that way I can swell organ, or boost volume for solos on any sound on any patch. However, I'm struggling to find out how to save it that way. I can select that option on one patch and save the patch that way, but I can't figure out how to save this setting as a global setting. Do you know if that's possible, and if so how to do it? Thank oyu so much for reading this lengthy comment ... :). Again, GREAT job on a super helpful video!

I think the lesson here is that unless you are a professional or want to take the risk of keeping up with the obligatory hectic pace of these vids, not to go anywhere near templates as they seem user unfriendly - using them can lead to disaster with many ways to go wrong in a maze of minutiae. As the same organising structures are used throughout the Cubase program, I suggest users like me (I don't use audio tracks btw) default to minimal, or no involvement with the project options that Cubase offers.

Once you save one template, its the same every time, and they can be a huge time saver starting a project.

do you have keyboard command shortcut like "b" for example that bounces the audio or renders in place? (rare bounce and render in place the same thing?) and ifso which one and what do you assign it to and where in the key commands assign window? thanks in advance, joey :)

I assigned 'B' to audio bounce just because of my old editing habits from WAY back in the day but you can pick anything. How you set up your key commands has more to do with the way you choose to work.

Thanks for this! I have a CK61 (and am thinking about upgrading to YC88). My CK61 can connect to the iPad in a similar way AND the A/D input also gets routed into the iPad (so that I can use iPad apps for effects for external gear). I saw in a different vid that as of three years ago, the YC88 is not capable of doing this. Have there been any updates for the YC series that enables A/D input audio to be routed through USB? Or is this one of the set advantages of the CK series compared to the YC?

Longtime user of Frequency as a de-esser. One other feature that most de-essers don't have is a release time. I always set my release time for de-essing to somewhere between 1ms and 15ms, depending on the tempo and phrasing. Anything slower makes the vocal sound like its oscillating between syllables.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts of why you choose different settings. I have used that same Yamaha pedal for almost 30 years now! But I usually only use it for expression or to adjust the live sound of part A/B or just the organ. I am exciting to get home tonight and try it as a Wah pedal.

Vinyl Jacket Records & 4k Film Sound Studios.... - Not all Monterey OS works with firewire and adapters. Double checking another Mac Book Pro Reloading Mojave but they Monterey and Mojave Audio and Video MacBooks will never get online ever and never use Apple ID... It gets hacked all the time.

The answer is YES! The Apple Corporate lunatics have removed the lines of code for the macOS audio core necessary for Firewire audio gear to continue to work. CEO Tim Cook came to Apple with the intent to destroy Macintosh, and by removing optical disk data support the CEO has effectively killed all educational and business uses of Macintosh Computers. CEO wants to have an "iCloud" environment where users rely completely on the data storage of iCloud with its monthly data storage costs. Monterey is the last macOS to make Firewire audio gear work. Apple is condemning all firewire devices to the landfill. Apple is a heartless and cruel company that hates its consumers. Consider Apple vandalizes the macOS system software of computers that are six years old and throttles six-year-old computers to about half-speed essentially ruining Macintosh computers for most users. Although Mac computers are excellent hardware, DO NOT BUY MACINTOSH COMPUTERS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY! Macintosh Computer sales are plummeting year over year as a result of Apple's CEO's madness to destroy what could have been a very viable and profitable computer company. I have used Macintosh Computers from the VERY FIRST 1984 AD 128K original Macintosh. In conclusion, having evil people rule the nation and corporations have disastrous consequences.
